Hey Friendys:) ( its long but worth reading)
I know its been a while. I just wanted to give a quick overview of my time in Africa and then shoot a vision for whats happening next in my life. So as most of you know i just attended a missions school in Mozambique Africa with a ministry called Iris. I spent 3 months on the east coast of southern Africa experiencing the things of God like i never have before. We had daily classes with different missionaries from all over the world who shared there stories and visions with the goal of us 300 or so students catching the vision of God for our lives. We did weekly practical missions such as going to the hospital and praying for the sick which was mine. Others did all kinds of things from children's programs to loving on the prostitutes to working on houses in the village that had no roofs and such. Then every week a few teams would be sent out into the bush bush to minister and share the gospel to some villages who had never heard of Jesus or the transforming power of His love. We saw many healed and many saved and many lives transformed by the love of God. Then at the end of the school some headed home to spend Christmas with there families and some headed to other missions trip and then some of us stayed and did 10 days in the bush bush.
Three or four teams of about 20 or so people headed into different villages to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those that had never heard His name. This was definitely the hardest thing Ive ever done in my entire life. Being faced with the warfare of each village we visited along with rain, bugs, LOTS of dirt and different sicknesses that hit our team as we went from village to village. And just when we thought what we were doing was pointless God would show up and we would see the most amazing transformations and healing. For example about 4 days in to our 10 day journey i saw the scripture that states " His power is made perfect in our weakness" come alive in an amazing way. It all started when i was just having a tough day. I was tired and dirty and annoyed and i was just done and ready to head home. As we were all just hanging and living life together i decided to go out and take pictures of the kids. I walked out of the fenced area and found 3 little kids with there parents and an older man. I started snapping pictures and the older man started asking me something. I couldn't understand but this is when my friend Joy came out and helped me translate because she speaks the language. We find out that he has a bad tooth infection and wants us to pull his tooth for him. Now i was definitely not about to pull this guys tooth so i just asked if we could pray for him. He said yes. we asked if he knew Jesus and he said " yes I'm a christian and I'm very close to Jesus." W start to pray and we lay hands on his very swollen face and commanded the healing of Jesus to come. See the infection was so bad that his face was very swollen and you could hear the infection gurgling in his throat. So we keep praying and he says " its ready to be healed." we pray one more time and his face began to twitch under our hands. Then the unbelievable happens. His cheek shrinks right under our hands. Me and Joy were amazed. We asked the man how it was and he said " its all better, theres no more pain, Jesus healed me its all gone!" Even the gurgling had left his voice, the man had been completely healed. We were amazed and then Jesus came again when we invited a young man to come and receive prayer.
The young man had a cataract on his eye which made him completely blind in that eye. we prayed a couple of times and each time the eye got better. We would cover his good eye and ask what He could see and gradually he could see how many fingers i was holding up and then he could describe what we looked like. by the end of us praying he told us there was no more problem he was completely healed. Me and Joy were amazed and ran into to share with our team what had happened. That was just one example of how the Lord met us on our 10 day journey. I know i speak for my whole team when i say our lives were very much so changed in that 10 days. We saw the hand of the Lord move in miracles of salvation and healing and the transformation of hearts by the love of God. Not only did we see many lives transformed but our lives were transformed in the process. which brings me to my final thing about my time in Africa.
Tho i went to Africa as a vessel of the Lord and a zealous lover ready to change the world i was the one who was changed. I like to say that i thought i went to save Africa but Africa saved me. This 3 months was the most life changing 3 months of my life. I learned who i am and who I'm called to be through the gentle healing of my best best friend Jesus and the mighty revelation of My identity as a daughter of God. I got so much out of this school. I made best friends and i fell in love with those kids and i fell in love with Jesus like never before. But the greatest thing that i gained form my time in the Harvest School was that i got my dream back.
During the school I was surrounded by mothers and fathers that our so for what God has called me to do. They heard story after story and testimony after testimony about getting caught up in the dream and destiny of God for my life. So as i began to dream again i found an open door to my future and to the plan of God for me. That open door is my move to California. I will share this in my next post so go read it and catch the vision of God and find your own through it.
